Boutique post production studio Creative Outpost has added revered CG artist Aron Makkai to its robust roster of creative talent. Aron has joined them most recently from DNEG and will take on the role of Head of CG.
Bringing a wealth of VFX experience, with 22 years of working across Hollywood productions including Guardians of the Galaxy, Avatar and the Harry Potter and Bond franchises, Makkai’s journey includes recent roles as a CG Supervisor at DNEG and MPC and Senior Look Development Artist at ILM. He will play a major role in growing Creative Outpost’s existing advertising, film and TV work, as well as expanding its CG offering.
Of the move Aron commented: “Creative Outpost offers me an opportunity to draw on my experience, working at the largest VFX houses in the world, and apply it to what is currently a smaller setting with huge growth potential.
“Compared to the CG supervision role I previously had, I perceive the role of Head of CG at Creative Outpost as a clearer goal with less moving parts and more creativity.
“The people behind Creative Outpost have done an awesome job setting up a well composed team spanning a wide range of services. The opportunity to contribute to the CG element feels exciting in that there is already a clear and very high standard set by the other departments.”
Makkai is keen to continue the collaborative approach taken by the whole Creative Outpost team and sees it as a way for he and his team to grow creatively, commenting, “I am a believer of participatory decision making, and thus I am looking forward to driving the discussion and formulating the workflows needed to meet the challenges ahead. At the initial stage my work might be more hands-on, so I hope there will be a personal creative development involved. But also, as Head of CG, I see this as a creative journey for both my colleagues and myself.”
