As summer hots up, it’s time to inflate the lilos, hit the pool and cool down after a busy period at Soho/Noho based, boutique post production studio Creative Outpost where the Head of CGI, Aron Makkai, has been working hard on its new USD workflow.
Over the past 10 years, Creative Outpost has built a strong pedigree in picture and audio post production across advertising and episodic productions and are security cleared for all the major studios. VFX productions have included Disney's Willow and Ballad of Renegade Nell, Amazon's The Rig and Netflix's The Letter for the King. So, with Aron’s decades of experience working on blockbusting Hollywood productions, it was always a priority to create a procedural Universal Scene Description pipe.
Over the past few months, the Creative Outpost team have been working hard to set up the infrastructure needed to optimally facilitate the requirement for long-format VFX projects.
Aron commented, “Our team has explored many cutting edge solutions for both software and hardware systems in order to achieve this.
“On the hardware side we have invested in GPU technology, unleashing our ability to scale in terms of seats and future proofing for further growth and expansion.
“And, on the software side for longform productions our USD-based pipeline enables us to efficiently collaborate, ingest, share and deliver work or assets with other studios using USD workflow, whether it be original commissioned or spillover work.
“For commercials we have expanded the Blender-based CG workflows and have tested the pipeline for virtual production work including Unreal.
“Both advertising and longform workflows have been complemented with updated production tracking which means, with these updates in place, we are ready to hit the ground running.”
Creative Outpost is a boutique post production company offering full service Picture/Audio Studios and end to end post production.
